I’ve always been a firm believer in the power of cake. Now I’m glad to see that Great Ormond Street hospital, too, has put its faith in cake’s miraculous ability not just to raise the spirits, but money too. £125,000, to be precise, for a new clinical building.
Bake it Better week is taking place from 13-19 October 2014, so strap on your aprons and get busy, and hold a bake sale in aid of the charity.
GOSH will send you a Bake it Better pack, including bunting (obviously an essential) invitations and a collection box. And, once you register, you’ll also have a chance to win a lovely kMix stand mixer by Kenwood. I have a Kenwood hand-held mixer and it’s brilliant, so I imagine the top-of-the-range kMix is totally the business, a lovely incentive to get involved, if helping sick children and eating cake weren’t already pressing enough reasons.
The money raised will fund new facilities where parents can sleep alongside their children in comfort, and will provide a separate room for lunches if children are well enough to leave their beds. Have a look at the website for more details.
