Family Fun

I’ve been asked what was the best value free family entertainment at Divorce Towers over the summer. Well, no contest. It was going to Dulwich Park.

This has been quite a novelty. I’ve loved the park since we arrived here four years ago. I walk round it twice a week with a friend (ok, sometimes we sit in the cafe nursing a cappucino, but talking is exercise, right?), I regularly drag visitors there too and for ages I would urge the girls to come along too to join all the good, healthy, outdoorsy fun – and they would turn me down emphatically every time.

But now, all of a sudden, I just can’t keep them out of the park. They’re there, constantly, all weekend, hanging out in the cafe drinking hot chocolate with the friends they’ve spent the rest of the day contacting by Facebook, text and even good old-fashioned landline to arrange their rendez-vouses. The park is the place to be.

I don’t often go there now with the girls in tow, as obviously I’m too embarrassing, but when I do, I notice the droves of other girls hanging out there too. The whole place is absolutely rammed with teenage girls. Which is absolutely great. How I’ll feel when it’s also rammed with teenage boys, I’m not so sure.

Something else which was great value over the summer was the Pizza Hut Kids Eat Free offer. The fab news is that this has been extended until January 9 2011. For every adult main course or adult lunchtime buffet you buy, your little dear can choose from either a FREE 2 course kids meal (including a drink) or a FREE kids lunchtime buffet (includes pizza, pasta and salad). Find more details about the offer at http://bit.ly/a1DhgJ

And there’s more – on the bottom of any Pizza Hut Restaurant receipt you will find an offer code. Enter this code at http://www.pizzahut.co.uk/familyadventures to get great deals on a wide range of family activities and adventures including holidays, theme parks and zoos.
