DC Super Hero Girls

Sponsored Post

Like most of the rest of the world, I had a massive crush on Wonder Woman as a girl. There was no other woman on TV who seemed to be having as much fun or, in fact, any fun at all. All right, she had to do all her baddy-fighting in a swimsuit, which I thought might well be quite embarrassing, but she didn’t seem bothered by it and was serenely, completely – and deservedly – sure of her own magnificence. While Barbie was unable to stand up, her etiolated legs and tiny hoof-like feet collapsing under the weight of her ridiculous plastic bust, Wonder Woman had hips and curves and, well, everything, and could still deflect the bad guys’ bullets with her clever bracelets.

Today, you’d think it would be a different story, but the most heroic thing on TV seems to be endless saccharine My Little Pony cartoons. That’s why I was glad to see my step daughter getting interested in DC Super Hero Girls. It’s all about the girl power here. It shouldn’t be refreshing, so many years after Wonder Woman burst onto our screens, but it is. Have a look and see what you think.
